Richland Creek Wilderness Area
My brother and his son and I took an overnight backpacking hike into Richland Creek Wilderness Area. The weather was perfect with sunny skies and a temp near 50 going in and rising to around 60. The low for the night was 31. We camped on a bluff overlooking the Richland Creek valley with great views in 3 directions. A couple of other groups were noted to be camping in the valley below near Richland Falls. The night was clear with a crescent moon and stars that seemed brightest to the east. An occasional coyote was heard later in the night but only one owl called to my dismay. We awoke to a perfect morning and I was up before sunrise. We headed out at 9:00 a.m. and made it home by 12:30. Total miles around 4.5. This was a really cool trip.
